BOARD STRUCTURE AND OFFICER ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
One of the most important functions of the OKSPRA board is keeping the organization’s resources and efforts focused on the role that school communications play in a district and in a community. Additional duties of board members include:
- Maintaining the mission of beliefs of the organization
- Strategic and organizational planning
- Ensuring strong fiduciary oversight and fiscal management
- Fundraising and resource development
- Enhancing OKSPRA’s public image
- Assessing the organization’s performance
Expectations of individual board members include:
- Serve as active advocates and ambassadors of the organization and fully engage in identifying and securing the financial resources and partnerships necessary to provide programming to members
- Leverage connections, networks and resources to bring value to membership
- Prepare for, attend and participate in board meetings, quarterly membership meetings and the Spring Conference
- Follow the organization’s bylaws and resolutions
- Maintain confidentiality about internal matters of OKSPRA
- President and president elect will attend NSPRA Presidents Summit annually (if the president or president elect cannot attend, another officer can attend in their place)
